Shantala Massage – Course For Parents
A love touch for your Baby
“Caressing, stroking, and cuddling are like food for your baby. Just as important as protein, minerals, and vitamins.”
Frederique Leboyer
Shantala Massage is an ancient massage technique for infants and babies introduced to Europe through French obstetric Frederique Leboyer. It has been trending in the US and Canada in recent years.
Regular massaging has a positive impact on the baby and also on the mother or any other person performing the massage. That kind of technique can be quickly learned by everyone. Its process is simple and easy to understand.
Touch is the first form of communication between baby and parent, favors intimacy, builds bonds, enhances the child’s self-esteem, and meets his needs for security and love. These are essential for healthy development and are the basis for life. Baby massage is a unique form of touch that brings many health benefits and pleasure from close contact. It relaxes and helps in falling asleep, strengthens the child’s immunity as well as improves his digestive system functioning, and relieves colic.
With regular massage, the baby sleeps better and calmer, is less likely to cry, has no problem with colic, and develops better physically and mentally.
A frequent massage of your baby 3-4 times a week has the following benefits:
- Stimulates proper psychophysical development
- Helps regulate sleep
- Improves digestion, prevents colic
- Soothes
- Raises the awareness of the baby’s body, and its boundaries, thus increasing a sense of security
- Strengthens emotional bonds with parents
- Increases the body’s immunity
Benefits for the parent or anyone who performs the massage:
- Improves self-confidence, and faith in one’s ability to care for a child
- Soothing, relaxing
- Relieves or prevent postpartum depression in mother
- Strengthens the bond with the child
- It helps in understanding your baby, their signals, and the messages of their body
- Help with better resting when the child sleeps longer after the massage
This course aims to teach parents to feel confident and fully present when they massage their baby.
The package contains two meetings (1.5 h – 2 h each):
- The infant’s chest, arms, belly, and legs are massaged.
- The infant’s back and face massage, relaxing exercises.
